| Summary | However I have been in Hockaido ten or more times, about half of them were
in Sapporo and Biei. I decided to visit Southern part of Hokkaido for the first time. The places I woud like to vist Sirafura Beach, Lake Toya, Lake Shikotsu and Jigoku Valley. |
||
| Itinerary | I have Miles with JAL that goes expire soon, so I book flight award on
the way to Hakodate with ANA, and flight award from Sapporo to Kansai with JAL. Early morning flight to Hakodate via Haneda. and then Hakodate in the afternoon. Shirafura Beach by bus next day, moving from Hakodate to Sapporo dropping in Muroran next day. Jigoku Valley and two lakes by bus tour next day. Parks suburbs of Sapporo last day next day as evning flight. I picked up the Takino lilly of the valley national park and the Yurigahara park. |
||
| Weather forcast |
I have checked the weather forcast in the southern Hokkaido around one
week before from departure. It will be always sunny previous week I arrive, but it rains after I arrive. I hoped it will be wrong. |
||
| To Hakodate |
As flight award, it was not direct flight to Hakodate but via Haneda one
and half hour transit. I took a first train to the Kansai Airport. The inspection of the airplane bound for Hakodate took a long time. Finally the planes changed from B777-200 to B777-300, one hour and half delayed. |
||
| In Hakodate |
I moved from the airport to the hotel by bus, but it was earier to check
in. Then I left my buggage at the strage of the hotel, and walk around the city. We were not able to see the summit of the Mt. Hakodate due to clouds. So if I went to the summit of Mt Hakodate, I may no able to see city view other than sea of clouds. I went to Cape Tachimachi and the Old Public Hall of Hakodate Ward. |
||
| Shirafura Beach |
I checkce the time table of buses in advance. I got on the bus around 10AM. I planned to visite there on weekday since I hate crowded. There were few people. It was broadcasted on TV. appearing bears almost everyday. I bought a bear bell and brought it. My wish came true, it was sun shine and blue sky. |
||
| To Muroran |
I went to the Higashi-Muroran Staion for two and half hours by express
train "Hokuto", and change the trains at there to the Bokoi Staion, "Bokoi"is irregular Kanji reading. I stoped the Tockarisyo Ovservatory, Kinbyobu and Cape Chikyu:earth. Taxi app didn't work, so I went there by foot, I was attacked by crows on the way, perhaps their nest near by. I guessed the Cape Chikyu is somehow not great, worthless just I expected. Couldy sometimes little sunlight day. |
||
| To Sapporo |
Then I got on the train at the Bokoi Station and went to the Sapporo Station via the Chitose Station. I joined the bus tour next day, booked in advance. I selected the tour without Cape Chikyu from some similar tours. Becase I went there previous day and is not worthe twice. |
||
| Bus tour |
I guessed the tour with Cape Chikyu held big bus, and withou it held small
bus. Actually the tour was held with a mini ban, 8 participants: 4 Taiwanese, 2 Singaporean, 2 Japlanes, and One Chinese driver as well as guide. He guided Chinese and Japanese. We visited Lake Sikotu, Jgoku Valley, Mt Usu and Lake Toya. Unfortunatelly, Couded sometimes rain. We were able to choose the cable car or bear ranch at Mt. Usu. I selected the cable car because I was able to see the summit a break in the clouds when we arrived there. |
||
| Last Day |
Since the flight went home was early evning, I checked out and left luggage. I planned to go the Takino lilly of the valley national park and the Yurigahara park. Unfortunate rain, went to only the Yurigahara park. |
